In 1984, fisherman Ji Yu is reborn. Faced with an exorbitant betrothal gift demand, he calls off the engagement without hesitation. He awakens the Sea Spirit Contract System, which lets him form pacts with marine creatures such as spotted pufferfish, wild otters and dolphins to share their talents. With his ocean companions, he gathers seafood on tidal flats, catches rare marine products and sells premium sea goods. He lifts his whole family out of poverty, brings back his elder sister who suffered abuse, and fights against the vicious Lin Clan and local thugs. Eventually, he buys a steel motor fishing boat and blazes a prosperous path for his family along the seashore in the 1980s.
