The male lead, Lin Feng, returned from the military in place of his younger brother. He thought he would gain the approval of his family, but his father, Lin Yuanshan, in order to pave the way for his younger brother Lin Mo, forced him to give up his military achievements and turned a blind eye to the hardships he had endured over the years. In order to completely expel Lin Feng from the core of the family, Lin Mo devised a scheme to falsely accuse Lin Feng of colluding with the enemy state, causing Lin Feng to be accused of treason. The whole family jointly reported him and sent Lin Feng to prison. Little did they know that Lin Feng had already become the designated successor of the Prince of Northern Town.
