Lu Kai, a modern soul reborn as the son of the Assistant Duke of the Great Xuan Dynasty, is exiled to remote Dingyuan County at first. He unlocks an Overlord template and gains a foothold with supreme strength. He enlists grassland forces, suppresses bandits, reclaims farmland, makes steel and crossbows, turning the barren city into a solid steel fortress. He defeats one hundred thousand Northern Di cavalry with fewer troops. After political rival Xiao Jin fails badly in the northern expedition, Lu Kai recovers five counties. In the end, he disobeys the imperial order, raises troops to remove evil ministers and heads for the capital.
