Ella, the second princess of the Kingdom of Therasia, is exiled to the Northern Wastes by her father. In the Blackstone Gorge, she awakens her mysterious azure phoenix flame, a supernatural power inherently capable of vanquishing undead ghouls. She fights side by side with Raine, the lord of the North. From a disgraced exiled princess, she rises against all odds to become the supreme queen of the ancient Valysian Empire. When the southern nobles who once humiliated her face her again at the Holy Court, Ella stands robed in golden-black sacred garments and crowned with the thorned dragon nest diadem, overlooking all living beings as the undisputed queen.
